Earlier this year a small group of blackbelts were
able to take the opportunity to spend a delightful weekend at
the bed and breakfast establishment of one of our colleagues,
Pat Kelleher who runs a bed an breakfast in Glendalogh in Ireland.
Guru B S and Ustadan Viv Dhaliwal had visited before and were
keen to share the experience with friends from the art form. They
told us of the peace and the beauty of the area, of the wonderful
walks and waterfalls we could explore and they described the warm
welcome and generous hospitality of our host.
I am certain that I can speak for everyone to say that in reality
when we were there we all found that throughout the weekend the
things we experienced far exceeded the high expectations we had
been given.
It was a most memorable trip. On the first night we went and
admired the still lake, on to the second rather wet day we went
training and walking in the hills
and on the third day we took a wonderful stroll along the valley
and up the side of the waterfall and then in the late afternoon
sunshine we trained in the garden overlooking the lake.
All of was linked together by evenings of good company enjoying
good food, and the odd glass of Guinness in the local hostelries
and then on the last night we spent a great evening talking and
toasting , and learning Gaelic greetings from our host Pat.
Sadly just before our visit Pat’s wife Penny was injured in a
car crash and was in hospital during our stay, but Pat insisted
that we came anyway. Penny is now at home and making a good recovery.
May each day see you stronger and fitter.
We all would like to return and get to know Penny as well as
Pat and make another pilgrimage to the magical place which we
would unreservedly recommend everyone to visit if they can. |
